ACI Modern Moms: Theresa Baptiste

When ACI Vice President of Corporate Relations Theresa Baptiste isn’t working hard to make customers happy, she’s working even harder to be the best mother, role model and friend she can be.  In honor of Mother’s Day, Theresa would like to offer some of her best ‘modern mom’ tips to all of the other special mothers out there as part of our ongoing series this week.  Enjoy!

Best advice for working moms: I have a couple: Empower your kids to help and contribute with daily tasks.  Getting their buy-in to help will enable you more valuable time with them.  Have family activities that will build fond memories like “Friday pizza night.”  Kids need stable and wholesome memories as they go through childhood. They like having family activities to look forward to.

Best part of being a mom: Watching a child grow into a young adult and make the great choices..right before your eyes. It is very exciting!

Biggest lesson learned: Two lessons: Motherhood is bittersweet and always rely on your instincts!  Mostly sweet but then in some difficult moments, when you hold your ground and hope they will come around eventually.  It is so hard not to give in to a child’s demands or by second guessing yourself as a parent. You always hope they eventually figure out that your motherly intentions are right and stem out of love.

Still haven’t mastered:  Being able to keep one step ahead of my daughter’s technology skills-she always seems to know more than I!

Nobody told me: How much I would worry-it never stops regardless of their age.  In fact, it becomes greater as their world get larger!

Most looking forward to: Watching my daughter achieve her goals and develop into the outstanding person that she is destined to become.
