Be Aware of Habits
One way to create New Year’s resolutions is to identify a list of habits to break or change. These could be the things preventing you from reaching your goals. Try listing habits that need to change and a solution or alternative to them. Here are a few examples:
HABIT
– Drinking soda with each meal.
SOLUTION
– Substitute with sparkling mineral water and fruit.
HABIT
– Smoking a few cigarettes a day.
SOLUTION
– Find a distraction when a craving strikes, such as playing a quick game or calling a loved one.
HABIT
– Sitting for most of the day.
SOLUTION
– Set an alarm to walk around every hour or walk to a coworker’s desk instead of sending an email.
HABIT
– Hitting snooze and sleeping through the alarm.
SOLUTION
– Place the alarm across the room so you have to get up to turn it off.
