Coloring for Stress Therapy

Coloring books used to be reserved for children, but recently there has been a growing trend in coloring books for adults as a stress relieving tool. Similar to traditional forms of meditation, coloring elicits a relaxed mindset and focus on the present moment.

Research shows that coloring also has an effect on heart rate and brain waves. Neuropsychologists explain that coloring is an effective way to reduce stress by focusing attention and concentration on details such as color, shape, size and staying within the lines, rather than stress triggers.
