San Diego, CA / October 10, 2013 – In the aftermath of the naval shipyard tragedy, Dr. Ann Clark, founder and CEO of ACI Specialty Benefits, and Rafael Cortina, ACI’s Clinical Manager, reach out to the community with a video discussion of mental health and workplace violence prevention.

“It was important for us to have this conversation and provide support during this time of recovery,” explains Dr. Clark. “This tragedy has brought mental health to the forefront and reminds us of the importance of providing resources that will lead to prevention of dangerous incidents at the workplace.”

One such resource are employee assistance programs, also known as EAPs, which are employee benefit programs offered by many employers. Employees of companies who utilize EAPs have an avenue to seek help to manage issues in their personal lives, including but not limited to relationship stress, substance abuse, and healthcare concerns. Prepaid by the employer, EAPs are normally free for employees.

Celebrating 30 years of innovation, ACI Specialty Benefits ranks in the nation’s Top-Ten providers of employee assistance programs, corporate wellness, student assistance, concierge, and work/life services to corporations worldwide. With a 95% client retention rate and over seven million covered lives, ACI has provided personalized, high-touch service to their clients, who include the CNIC and Naval District Washington.

“With this video message, we hope to provide some more exposure to such resources as employee assistance programs,” adds Cortina. “Our goal is to make employees of our current clients aware that they have such a valuable resource at their disposal, as well as to spread the word to those who may not have even heard of an EAP.”
