Jerry Sanders Reveals Secrets of School Violence Prevention

San Diego, CA/August 8, 2013 – What do the decision-makers in higher education have to do with the solution to school violence?

Everything.

In an exclusive interview with CEO of ACI Specialty Benefits Dr. Ann Clark, former San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders said, “School violence is entirely solvable.”

Teachers and schools aren’t helpless anymore. When students feel isolated at school, student assistance programs are the best defense against school violence – and for good reason.

Sanders and Clark highlighted the role of partnership with student assistance programs in identifying troubled students and facilitating them to receive help, whether they’re victims of bullying or bullies themselves.

“When I say it’s entirely solvable, what I mean is that people know that this is occurring,” Sanders said. “It’s got to be an effort of everybody in that school and that tiny community to start bringing some help.”

That help can come in the form of a student assistance program, which provides telephonic assessment and support for students and is a direct helpline for teachers when dealing with troubled students.
