Healthy Halloween Candy Pairs
Sometimes the scariest thing on Halloween night isn’t your child’s costume, but the amount of calories in their trick-or-treat bag! Here are some sneaky ways to pair their holiday loot with healthier ingredients to create a more wholesome snack while still satisfying their sweet tooth:
- Pair a caramel candy, such as a Milky Way, with green apple slices for a caramel apple snack
- Melt down chocolate squares to create a dip for blueberries, strawberries, or other fruits
- Make milkshakes with milk, low-fat ice cream, and a candy; some fun combinations are strawberry ice cream and SweeTarts, or vanilla ice cream, bananas, and Reese’s
- Fill celery stalks with peanut butter and top with peanut M&Ms
- Dip bananas in melted chocolate and roll in crushed bits of your favorite candy, such as Reese’s or Butterfingers, and freeze overnight for a chilled treat
- Make your own trail mix of pretzels, nuts, dried fruits, and your Halloween M&Ms
