Help Prevent Childhood Obesity Starting at Home

The percentage of overweight children is growing at an alarming rate with 1 out of 3 kids now considered overweight or obese.

Promote a healthy relationship with food in your children by avoiding these common traps:

  • Don’t reward kids with sweets or treats
  • Don’t maintain a “clean-plate” policy
  • Don’t talk about “bad foods”
  • Don’t eliminate all sweets and favorite snacks from kids’ diets

By eating well, exercising regularly and incorporating healthy habits into your family’s daily life, you’re modeling a healthy lifestyle for your kids that will last a lifetime. Most of all, let your kids know you love them no matter what their weight to prevent a decline in self-esteem.
