There are several solutions, besides medications, that one can use to reduce or relieve migraines and headaches. For example, exercising regularly, reducing emotional and physical stress, and eating healthier are just a few. Did you know that certain foods can trigger migraines? • MSG- many Asian foods use MSG as a flavor enhancer
  • Nitrates- found in processed meats like hot dogs, salami, and bacon
  • Genetically modified foods- the most common GMO foods are corn and canola oil
  • Benzoates- can be found in fruit juices and carbonated beverages
  • Tyramine- thought to trigger migraines by reducing serotonin levels in the brain. Often found in aged cheeses, red wine, avocados, overripe bananas, pork, venison, and chocolate
  • Alcohol- mainly red wine and beer
  • Gluten- try avoiding freshly baked yeast breads and cakes
  • Fermented foods- such as pickles, yogurt, and sour cream
