Out with the Old, In with the New

With the New Year comes the chance to start fresh and evaluate areas of improvement. Boost your health and well-being next year by replacing old habits with new, positive ones!

Couch Potato
The average American watches 5 hours of TV per day. That is a long time to be sedentary!
New habit: Sit on a stability ball instead of the couch or office chair to engage your core. You could also do light activities like jumping jacks, sit-ups, or even stretches during commercial breaks.

Super Salt Shaker
The recommended value is only 2,300 mg but the average American consumes about 3,400 mg of sodium a day!
New habit: Substitute salt with other seasonings like natural herbs, spices or garlic powder.

Stressed Mess
Stress-related tension contributes to headaches, elevated blood pressure, as well as sleep problems.
New habit: Alleviate elevated blood pressure and calm your mind by practicing this trick: inhale slowly for 4 seconds, hold this breath for 6 seconds, and slowly exhale for 4 seconds. Repeat.
