Taste the Rainbow!

When consuming fruits and veggies, try to include a variety of colors to make sure you are getting as many vitamins and minerals as possible! Follow this guideline the next time you cruise down the produce aisle:

Red plants are full of lycopene, which are cancer-fighting and prevents cell damage.

Orange and yellow produce has carotenoids which help to keep your eyes, mucous membrane and immune functions healthy.

Green veggies and fruits contain lutein, indoles and folate which are all essential to maintaining eye health, preventing against cancer and preventing birth defects, respectively.

Blue/purple fruits and vegetables contain anthocyanins, which are antioxidants that prevent cell damage.

White fruits and vegetables can help lower cholesterol, blood pressure and cancer/heart disease risk.
