The Power of Imagination

Guided imagery is an effective way to calm the body and the mind  by guiding the imagination toward a relaxed, focused state. Calming the mind can have powerful physiological effects on the body. Guided imagery taps into all of the senses and can be applied toward stressful situations that bring up anxiety. By imagining all of the details of a safe, comfortable place such as a beach or garden, one can achieve a relaxed state.

Get Started!

  • Choose a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted and close your eyes.
  • Think of a positive, peaceful image or moment.
  • Focus on the emotions and senses (sight, sound, touch, smell and taste) that are triggered when thinking of this image. Breathe in the calm feeling, letting it sink into the body.
