Warm Weather Exercise Safety

As we are approaching the hottest months of the year, here are few tips for you to prepare for exercising in the warm weather:

Avoid exercising outside during peak hours – The sun’s peak hours are between noon and 3 p.m.

Hydrate – Drink water before, during, and after exercise. If you plan on doing a vigorous-intensity exercise for an hour or more, try to have a low/no sugar sports drink to replenish electrolytes.

Wear proper gear – Wear moisture-wicking fabric, which helps to cool down your body by wicking sweat away from your body and dries quickly. Also wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the sun.

Listen to your body – Take breaks whenever you need and never push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
